Noble Effort

 

The background paintings in old Warner Brothers cartoons were a huge influence on my art, and I always assumed they were a group effort under the guidance of the immortal Chuck Jones.

Wrong! The style was the work of one man: Maurice Noble. He’s the most influential artist whose name I never knew.
